RAMEN TAKUMI.

Ohhhhhh, the weather outside is FRIGHTFUL. The city has finally been hit with massive CHILL attack (which I will actually gratefully accept because for the first few mild months of winter...I was under the rational assumption that the world was ending). Nothing staves off a cold evening better than a nice bowl of RAMEN!!! Ramen Takumi is a tiny ramen shop near Union Square that is especially cognizant of vegetarians!!! Carefully labeled vegetarian-friendly sections ensure us veggie-vores can happily consume a bowl of ramen without fear of chicken or beef stock! You can find the menu here.

We started with an order of Vegetable Gyoza - lightly fried for that slightly crisp layer of skin.

I ordered a bowl of the Vegetable Miso Ramen - a soybean paste flavored broth filled with chewy ramen noodles, scallions, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, and corn. Well-flavored soup and the perfect ratio of vegetables to noodles to broth. I also happen to think ramen is the best cure for any hangover!!

While I wouldn't recommend a noodle apprentice searching for his noodle master at Ramen Takumi, I think it is a convenient place to find a decent bowl of noodles if you are in the area.
