The week started off with a bang at Kitchenette, a very cute little restaurant and bakery in Tribeca. Instead of eating dinner, N and I decided to dive right into dessert.
N ordered not one but TWO of these little chocolate pudding trifles...which tasted like...well..chocolate pudding.
I opted for the banana pudding version that served as a moss peat for little chunks of cake and strawberries. The whipped topping was nothing to die for...and I gotta admit, I was kinda disappointed by the whole combination. The texture of the cake and the pudding didn't even jive.
I also ordered the pumpkin pie bar that was topped with roasted pumpkin seeds. Once again, nothing to call grandma about...but this was my favorite of the things I tried this evening. I would like to return to Kitchenette to try their food (New England comfort dishes) and not make dessert my number one priority. On Tuesday, I ate the leftover desserts that I had from Kitchenette (I know..leftovers???? Of dessert???? Very unlike moi).
Wednesday evening was P and A's joint birthday dinner at Maxie's Bar & Grill. Pictured above is the Deep Dish Apple Pie served, praise the Lord, A LA MODE. For a restaurant where you aren't really expecting much in the dessert category, this apple pie was actually quite good!! I loved the crunchy textures of the crumble topping with the warm and soft apple pie filling coated with some cool and creamy vanilla bean ice cream. Can't really go wrong.
On Thursday, I helped N calm his chocolate cravings by taking a visit to Chocolate Bar in West Village. My favorite one was that little ball on the bottom right that was made of chocolate ganache, something that made it a bit minty (duhh...mint??), and rolled in crushed almonds. Reminded me of Christmas.
Friday evening was spent at Alta, a delicious tapas restaurant in West Village. I will have to blog about the actual dinner in another post (because the food was excellent), but I felt their Chocolate Souffle Cake deserved to also be in this post. The moist chocolate cake was filled with a dulce de leche and peanut butter filling that ooozeeeeeddddd out and was served with an espresso ice cream that sat atop a crunchy, sugary espresso salt tuile (crunchy cracker thing). One of the better chocolate molten cake experiences I have had in a while. This post will have to be updated after my meal tonight at 10 Downing..where I imagine dessert will be the only proper way to end the evening and the week.
And there you have it. Hello elliptical.

Any time you need someone to feast on desserts for an entire week with you, I'm your girl.
I love Alta, too! I'm surprised I don't hear more about it, but my boyfriend and I just stumbled into it accidentally and love everything on the menu. I can't believe your photo turned out that well with the crazy lack of lighting they have.
yummmmm my co-worker that sits next to me made some delish brownies that I've been having a staring contest with all day..I think they've won and I need to eat one...and I'll blame it on your post! way to go sis.
