MY BFF ED.

Meet Ed McFarland. He is my new BFFL because he is the owner of Ed's Lobster Bar, home of my new favorite lobster roll in the city.

Their actual portions are not quite as large as the rolls from Mermaid Inn, but there is an incredible amount of lobster meat piled onto that roll. Perhaps this is a due to a decreased goop per meat-age ratio?? Ed definitely threw in more than several satisfying chunks of tail meat into the mix. Surprisingly, the mainstay of this lobster roll is actually the BUN. Don't get me wrong, the lobster was phenomenal...but this bun was something else!! It almost tasted like a croissant, but in glorified hot dog BUN form!!! I think the secret was brushing a layer of warm butter into the roll, which not only made the bun taste supernatural, but also brought out the sweetness of the lobster. An appreciated balance from the lemon juice made this lobster roll tres, tres delicieux. AND there was an added bonus of being able to substitute fries with a healthier salad option (verses the no-substitutions-allowed rule at Mermaid Inn).

That same buttered bun also appeared in our ice cream sandwich dessert. But at this point, I was really hoping the ice cream would come smashed between two large chocolate chip cookies. So this was a bit of a disappointment...well, as much of a disappointment that ice cream covered with chocolate fudge and whip cream can be.

Next up on my lobster roll treasure hunt:
-Pearl Oyster Bar
-Mary's Fish Camp
-Lure

Let me know if you want to join my crew of lobster roll pirates. YARMIE!
